While the Danube Delta is still a young land with less abundant flora, Dobrogea is an ancient land where numerous plant species have accumulated, including many rare and protected ones. Many plant species migrated from the Balkans to northern Dobrogea, integrating gently into the local flora, while others became invasive. Similarly, the customs of ethnic groups settled in these territories strongly influenced the situation of local vegetation—Aromanian shepherds’ flocks led to overgrazing, Circassians devastated forests, and Lipovans lived in harmony with the vegetation.
